The association seeks to improve the management of cyber risks

The President of the Risk Management Association of Nigeria, Mr. Ezekiel Oseni, has called for more vigilance on the part of businesses and individuals to step up cybersecurity risk management due to the increased emergence of cyber risk .

A statement said Oseni spoke during his opening remarks at the 2022 Member Induction, during which 107 members were inducted into RIMAN as Principal Associate Members and Associate Members.

He noted that as the business world continued to evolve, it was important for risk managers and organizations to evolve with the emergence of dramatic changes in the risk landscape facing businesses.

Speaking on the theme of the event titled “Developing Competencies for Cybersecurity Risk Management in an Organization”, he said, “In today’s computerized world, new risks are emerging every hour of the day. Cybercrime is becoming big business and cyber risk is front and center for organizations and governments around the world.

“The world will continue to experience an increase in data breaches in the face of emerging technologies, the dawn of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and rising youth unemployment rates around the world.

“Threats such as ransomware, targeted phishing attacks and advanced persistent threats have already become commonplace, forcing organizations to take proactive steps to secure their critical information, including customer information accessed from cyberspace.

“Cybersecurity risk is considered a significant business risk and should be placed alongside compliance, operational, financial and reputational risks. Therefore, policymakers, businesses, and individuals need to learn the importance of implementing excellent cybersecurity risk management. »
