Risk management veteran Dan Kugler dies

The Spencer Educational Foundation, which supports the education of risk management and insurance professionals, announced the death of Dan Kugler, a veteran risk management professional who served on the boards of directors of Spencer Educational Foundation and RIMS.

The foundation said Kugler was a “thought leader, mentor and staunch supporter of creating opportunities for others, especially students who have chosen to pursue careers in risk management and insurance. “.

Kugler has helped educate students and professionals across the country about the world of risk management, teaching on behalf of the Spencer Educational Foundation and RIMS. Most recently, Kugler joined Spencer’s scholarship committee, helping select its 2022 recipients.

To honor Kugler’s commitment to supporting the next generation of risk management leaders, Spencer announced the first-ever Risk Management on Campus (RMOC) grant – the Dan Kugler Memorial RMOC Grant.

“For nearly two decades, Dan has participated in Spencer’s MROC program – a program hailed by universities and risk professionals as a rewarding educational experience for students and an impactful opportunity to give back to the profession,” Spencer said. “The program brings practicing risk professionals, like Dan, to universities across the United States and Canada to present and engage with students about the world of opportunity that awaits them in this field.”

RIMS, a longtime supporter of Spencer’s educational efforts, made an initial contribution of $5,000 to the memorial grant.
